Doggie Rufflebutts

I figure why should Samster get all the cute stuff?Lucy wanted to know why she didn't get a pair, I didn't have the heart to tell her that her rump is just too big for my fabric stash.
Have you seen the cute ruffled bottom bloomer tutorials for babies? Or perhaps the actual "Rufflebutts" brand of unbelievably adorable little girl's wear? Well, that's what this is, except for the canine type. It velcros on one side & has a little cutout for the tail, here's a quickie tutorial showing you how I made it so you your mutt can too turn model.

First I cut out the main piece based on one of Samster's diapers. Parker's a perfect size 5, don't ask how we knew that already. (no, not because I diaper my dog & am too lazy to walk him, but yes, it could possibly be because my 2 yr old gets a kick out of dressing him)I also serged around all the edges to give it some stability. Then I attached a piece of velcro to the one open side.Next I stitched a small piece of elastic to the top to make it a bit snugger.Slap on a few ruffles, cut out a tail hole & he's ready to party.I love the look on his face, P says he's a beaten down dog that has just lost his last shred of dignity. I think he's just taking in the view & is reveling in his new found beauty.Hope you have a great day!

*Ok I just realized that perhaps some of you are thinking I'm torturing my dear Sheltie for no good reason but in reality he's quite the prankster & is happy to be a part of a fun & crafty
April Fool's!!!

  3. Oh, what a good sport your doggie is! Yay for dressing up poor unsuspecting pets (all in good humor, of course!), and kudos to them for not throttling us for it! :o)

  6. OMG, that is too funny, your poor doggie! I have come close to making a ruffle butt onesie for my pug, in fact I have discovered that she is a perfect size 12 month! I actually did just make her a t-shirt from a baby onesie!

  7. Wow, I'm a little late on this, but that's because I didn't scroll down all the way yesterday. I was thinking, "Is she for real?? I usually like her stuff. Poor dog." Yep, you fooled me for sure!

  9. I honestly thought that your dog was "in heat" and you found a creative way to keep it from messing up your home! You actually might have a market for this if you check into it. Odder things have sold...remember the doggie purses a few years ago that were all the fad? Who'd have thunk!
