Glittered Justification

First off congrats to Kristy! She's the winner of the hairclips giveaway! Kristy, please email me at samstermommy@gmail.com with your address so I can send the goods your way.

Now on to some very important glitter business...

Are we all familiar with Martha's obscenely beautiful glitter multi-pack at Michael's? The glitter comes in colors like Tourmaline, Cinnabar, Peridot & Florentine Gold. Not just regular gold, but FLORENTINE gold. Oh Martha.Regardless of how frou frou the names are you can't deny the colors are downright gorgeous. I know I can't be the only who has lusted after them when I've walked down the MS aisle. Perhaps like me you've even reached for it, until you saw the price...
$30!!! YES, THIRTY DOLLARS for GLITTER!
It's outrageous, no? Now if you're really like me you were turned off at first by the jacked up price & put it back in a huff, who does that Martha think she is anyway? But as time went by you found yourself thinking of them, trying to come up with an excuse to justify spending so much on glitter. Hmm, maybe an ornament? Or stationary? But the problem I kept running into was any project I wanted to do required only one, maybe two, shades of glitter. How could I justify buying the big, beautiful multi-pack when the individual bottles were right there for a much more tolerable $4.

But then last night it hit me! I would use YOU as an excuse! And don't worry, you get to use me right back.

Here's the pitch...I'm going to give you 30 glitter projects to do with Martha's $30 glitter! That way it's only like $1 a project! If you have 30 things to do with your multi-pack then it's perfectly justified. One could even say PRACTICAL!
(for those of you rolling your eyes at me right now I can see you. and I think you're zero fun.)

If you haven't figured it out already I am that friend who if you want can give you an excuse to buy just about anything. The queen of ass-backwards logic to justify anything pink, super soft or sparkly- however in this case I think it's actually kind of a good idea. I'm going to kick off the series tomorrow with these...
Glittered Polymer Clay Ornament Charms, so cute, the little buggers are only 1/2" tall. I have a handful of other ideas but if you have one please email it to me, I'd love to feature it & link to you!

Little miss glitter pack came home with me today promptly after I came up with the idea. You can see she fits in just fine.So what do you think? Interested to see some glitter goodness?? Also what would be a good name for this little conspiracy, er, wholesome craft series?

  2. I know it can get annoying to get so many ads and things in your emails, but Michael's sends coupons every week by email (if you sign up on their website) which usually includes a 40% or 50% off any one regular price item.

  6. OMG I lust over this glitter. I pick it up every time I go in there. I might have even refereed to it as orgasmic once or twice. I so have a reason to buy it now and I have a 50% coupon which makes it only $15 and totally justifiable. I can't wait for all the good ideas!

  8. I love glitter waaaay too much - can't wait to see what projects you have lined up! :)

Also, at my Michael's, I get a 40% off a single regular-priced item coupon printed out with my receipt anytime I buy ANYthing. Just a little hint, in case people would like to spend $18 instead of $30. Make up something else you need, save your receipt, and head back to the store 4 or 5 days later. That's how I was able to finally afford my huge rotary cutting mat, too! ;)

I made the mistake of telling my husband he could use it as one of my Christmas gifts though...maybe I need to go take it back from him!

  16. I got the smaller glitter pack and seriously, ladies, this glitter is to. die. for. it's super fine so it'll make a royal mess but you'll drool over the bling. i made some ornaments for our little tree and they look so awesomely glitterly, i could cry. who know glitter could do this to a grown woman? :)

p.s. and to be a party pooper, M's doesn't usually allow us to use its fat 40% coupon on MS stuff. *Pout*

  17. Only with a coupon! I can't spend that much on glitter, just can't justify it! I love it, it's beautiful, but too pricey. At 40-50% off, it's still pricey, but I can talk myself into it.

  18. MS has a whole tutorial on how to make glitter pictures using your own photos! On her website. I used a 60% coupon to buy mine today. Yippee!

  19. Were you able to use a Michael's coupon?

    ReplyDelete
  20. No ):

My Michael's at least, doesn't allow you to use the coupons on Martha products. It's in the teeny tiny fine print. Poop.

  21. There is a coupon out there in a couple different mags' December issue specifically for NS products at Michael's. I can't remember if it was 40 or 50% off.
