Weekend Insomnia = Completed Projects (YAY!)

I don't know what's gotten into me the last few nights but I just CANNOT sleep. And it's not like I'm tired and just can't rest, I'm completely wired! Last night I was up until 1:30a sewing, 1:30! I don't even remember the last time I stayed up past midnight, & it certainly wasn't when I was in my own house with complete access to a warm & comfy bed.

Well whatever the reason was I did have some beautiful finished sewing projects completed & ready for a photoshoot this morning!

Fleece tunic & pants:
I love the way the pleating turned out along the bottom, I think it looks like frosting! It was easy to do, I just cut a long strip of fleece & folded it over on itself as I fed it through the machine. I also added some to the shoulders...
Next project was to transform some onesies that Sam's outgrown but are favorites of mine. This 1st one just needed a little length & some sleeves so it was a pretty easy fix. I cut off the snap bottom & then used some leftover tshirt fabric for the sleeves & bottom. I also made a bunch of legwarmers (that's what those crazy pink striped things are) for Sam from women's socks, I took pics so I'll give you that tutorial sometime this week. (maybe tuesday?)
The shirt says, "My daddy is a DJ. What does YOUR daddy do?" Snotty, I know, but it still cracks me up.

We love this golden retriever onesie that a friend gave us when Sam was born, it's for a boy though & when it fit her she was a.) bald & boy looking already & b.) it was too cold out for short sleeves. All that to say she never got to wear it so now I'm super excited to repurpose it as a cute fall dress!!!
This was really easy too, 1st I cut off the bottom of the onesie and then worked in sections adding on to the base with different tshirt scraps. The bottom ruffle & arms are actually from a flowerprint floor-length nightgown I had. Don't ask.

This is a lot like the tshirt dress I made in this post but even easier because the main structure was already done with the shirt part of the onesie. I really like how the purple buttons look too, I just stitched them right on top of the three snaps that were already there. Snaps are still functional but now they're pretty too.
I think Sam & Lucy like it too...
Before you judge the crapiness of those photos let me show you some of the others I had to choose from...since someone has learned how to walk she's been a bit of impossible to keep still.
That big brown lump on the couch? Samster Daddy.
Some of us handle our colds a little better than others. (;

Speaking of being sick, I haven't forgotten that right before the household was taken over by colds I teased you with a giveaway. I promise I never intended to make you wait this long! It'll be up tomorrow by noon!

Hope you had a good weekend,

  3. I love the Daddy DJ tshirt! I've been wanting to try that freezer paper stuff you've been talking about to make a couple music tshirts for my little guy Phoenix. His Daddy is in the music biz and Phoenix is totally the kid you'd see wearing a "Music is life/Music is food" tshirt and stuff like that, but I can't find them for his size so I was thinking of making him a bunch of music inspired T's.

I'm a novice STILL so do you buy this freezer paper stuff at a craft store?

  4. You should totally go for it! And please post pics when you do, I'd love to see them.

For the freezer paper you buy it at the grocery store believe it or not. Right next to the tin foil and clingwrap. (:

  13. Most people have the occasional night of disturbed sleep. Insomnia is a feeling of not being able to get enough sleep. It’s usually related to finding it hard to get to sleep, waking up without having had enough sleep or not feeling refreshed after sleep. One in four people are thought to suffer from insomnia at some point in their lives.
