When Saturday came around and it was time for my lesson an interesting thing happened, I'm going to call it "24/7 mommy syndrome".
I didn't want to leave.
I started catching myself looking for excuses not to go, something in me felt I needed to stay home with Samster. Do laundry, catch up on housework, take care of the baby...P actually had to throw me out the door! I guess when you spend every day home meeting the needs of others it almost becomes unnatural to leave and do something for yourself. Weird.
I did finally get to my new hobby and I have to tell you, I was so intimidated walking in the door! Here's what I saw...
Not to mention I still get a terrible case of 'first day of school' syndrome where you want to turn around and run home because you don't know anyone, don't know where to go or what you're supposed to do but in reality I had a sitter, I was dressed, out the door and here. All I had to do was walk in.
So I did.
And IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!
The class was 3 hrs long and I am in love. And incredibly sore, every muscle I never knew I had is still aching two days later but I can't wait to go back. I even met two other moms who were there by themselves doing the exact same thing, finding something that was new, exciting and all their own.
What do you think you could do today that you could look forward to and would be just for you?
Your friends ARE wusses! That's horrible! If I lived anywhere close I would have been there with you. I never get to do it, but I absolutely love climbing! My two pieces of advice- where the granniest panties u have that don't ride up... makes for a much nicer climb.... wear tight stretchy shorts (think biker shorts) again.. makes for a much nicer climb.... and lastly... use your legs! A lot of people think climbing is about seeing how strong your arms... your legs are the biggest muscles u have... use them! Have fun! I so wish we had a good indoor climbing thing here!
ReplyDeleteAhhh i remember Kane saying something on the radio about you doing this but it slipped my mind! I wont know whats going on this week, I am off all week and I am taking advantage and sleeping in, my apologies to your husband. I think it is great you have gotten out and found something fun. I may have to try that some day!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I'm so jealous! I would have totally been there with you. I tried rock climbing when my husband and I were first married and I loved it! I would love to get back into it. Thanks for the inspiration! And I know what you mean about the having a hard time getting out of the house, but you've got to do it sometimes just so you can stay sane.
ReplyDeleteI too would have been there with you! We did it for a mom's night out once and I LOVED it it's so much fun. Good for you! You have to take care of yourself, it makes you a better mommy!
ReplyDeleteI'll go with ya! See you this week..haha, wouldn't that be fun?
ReplyDeleteI think I would go take a dance class. I always loved to dance and would love to take a proper class.
